Future projects

Wireless Diagnostics Centre

One joint plan of the Clusters of Health and Well-being and HealthBio is to initiate a project which aims to gather together Finnish Telemedicine expertise and research as well as testing the existing technology in a living laboratory environment in South Africa. The objective of the project is to develop an easy-to-use diagnostics system based on wireless data transmission which is very suitable for situations where traditional systems are too complicated. If the project is successful, it will present a new business opportunity for enterprises because the majority of world's people live in areas where traditional systems operate poorly or not at all. We hope that Finnish diagnostics and IT companies as well as research organizations in this field will participate in this project. A service complex to help the elderly

A major international project aiming to modernize the total spectrum of services for the elderly will be started in autumn 2008 as cooperation between the Health and Well-being Cluster and the Regional Centre Programme. The project aims to achieve the development and inauguration of new, more efficient service models and technologies suitable for the service environment. It is estimated that the project will bring new service branch enterprises which are supervised by a regional umbrella organization utilizing modern technology and expertise and this will boost the activity of small enterprises acting in this field. Strengthening of the client-supplier chain of social and health services will also stimulate the activity of the enterprises in this field. We want Finnish service and technology companies as well as appropriate research organizations to participate in the project. ChemBio 2009

Health and well-being and HealthBio clusters are attending the ChemBio 2009 with a joint theme. The chemical industry, biotechnology and laboratory products are brought together at the ChemBio Finland 09 exhibition. ChemBio Finland 09 gets together professionals in Finland and also from the other Nordic Countries, Estonia and Russia. The Congress and extension seminars give added value to the visitors by clinging to key issues in the fields. Target visitor groups include professionals working in the fields of chemistry or biotechnology, health care, public administration, universities and research institutes.

Life Science Gateway

Health and Well-being and HealthBio Clusters are expanding HealthBio’s spear head programme “Pharmaceutical Gateway China-Finland” to cover new fields of expertise. In addition of pharmaceutical expertise, the new programme will harbor also in vitro diagnostic devices and reagents and biomaterials. Through this renovation, we aim at opening new business opportunities for Finnish enterprises, and enhancing international collaboration between research, product development and business. Our focus is on international markets, especially on growing markets in China, European countries and USA. We welcome participants from Finnish companies and research organizations to this project.
