A workshop utilizing space technology in health care was arranged in Kuopio in 16.12.2009. Experts of the European Space Agency ESA, Arnaud Runge, Engineer for Life and Physical Sciences Instrumentation and Norbert Hübner, Head of Feasibility Studies Section introduced the topic. Representatives of local enterprises and research institutes had opportunity to learn about the activities and resources of ESA.
The objective of the workshop was to bring closer space technology and health care technology. Applications of space technology can be found e.g. in the fields of environmental health and telemedicine in both of which Kuopio has strong expertise.
During the workshop, cooperation opportunities were mapped between ESA and local actors concerning R&D projects and their funding. Common issues were found in the fields of wellbeing and environment both in business and research. Participants are looking forward to further clarifications on future cooperation.
The workshop was organized by Tekes in cooperation with Kuopio Region Centre of Expertise/ Health and Well-being programme which is coordinated by Kuopio Innovation Ltd.
